Get Behind It: Milledge Joining AAA Indianapolis, Doumit Notes

July 9th, 2009 | by SL |

The Lastings Milledge era is almost upon us.  Milledge is set to join the Indianapolis Indians after finishing his rehabilitation assignment in the Gulf Coast League.  His broken right finger showed no ill affects in the recent assignment.  Dejan reports that Milledge finished his rehab in Bradenton while going 3-for-11 with two doubles.

Doumit Finally Gets A Hit

Ryan Doumit hasn’t had an easy time regaining his usually sweet stroke after beginning his minor league rehab assignment with an awful 0-for-20 skid.  John Perrotto reports:

Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit broke his 0-for-20 skid on his minor-league rehabilitation assignment by going 2-for-4 but the Indianapolis Indians lost to Columbus 9-0 on Thursday afternoon in the Class AAA International League.

Doumit, who also struck out once, had been 0-for-13 in four games with Indianapolis after going 0-for-7 in two games with rookie-level Bradenton.

Doumit, who initially appeared to be well ahead of schedule on rehabbing his broken wrist, doesn’t seem to ready for full-time Major League duty.  We’ll see how things fare for the catcher after next week’s All-Star break.
