Mark Cuban Should Have Bought The Pirates In The 90’s

October 21st, 2009 | by SL |

Wishful thinking Pirates’ fans were up in arms yesterday at the prospect of Mark Cuban purchasing the Bucs.  Although there was never any announcement regarding such a transaction, optimistic Pittsburgh baseball fans were interested as to the reasons behind Cuban’s visit to his hometown.

From the man himself:  “No, I’m not buying the Pirates,” he said. “I tried. [It's] not going to happen. We’ll leave it at that.”

Cuban was in town for student forum at the University of Pittsburgh and responded to questions regarding the 10-game suspension given to the Orlando Magic’s Rashard Lewis for PED use by saying:

“I’ll get killed for saying this,” Cuban replied, “but I’m not so against steroids if they’re administered under proper supervision and there is no long-term damage.”

Yeah, he’s not buying the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Even if he was intending to do so his comments on steroid use would have derailed those plans with the commissioner’s office.  Still, the idea of Cuban running onto the field to argue balls and strikes is rather intriguing.
