Neal Huntington Working On Waiting

December 22nd, 2009 | by SL |

General Manager Neal Huntington is apparently holding his cards extra close right now because we were all led to believe the Bucs were in the mix for Justin Duchscherer.  The free agent pitcher is reportedly reviewing offers from three teams, none of which happen to be the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Duchscherer did not pitch in 2009 and is in all likelihood finished in Oakland.  The Yankees were believed to be a frontrunner for his services but their acquisition of Javier Vazquez will likely rule them out of the running, unless the Yankees really want to douche it up.

A source very close to Pirates Property has alluded to a restructuring of the All-Star Game format for next season; players from the National League will team up with players from 12 American League squads to face the best of the Yankees and Red Sox.  We’ll keep you posted as this story unfolds… or not.
